whosayah is operated by FastoCloud. This page describes exactly what happens to what you send us. It is short because the service is small: there are no accounts, and we keep as little as we can.
What we do with your file
When you drop a file on this site it is uploaded to a transcription server operated by FastoCloud, where the audio is converted to text and, if you asked for speaker labels, split by voice. Your file is deleted as soon as the transcript is ready. It is not kept, not archived, and not used to train anything.
The transcript itself is deleted 24 hours after it is created, automatically. After that it is gone and cannot be recovered — including by us.
What we store, and why
- The transcript, plus the file name, size, length, chosen language and any speaker names you type. Deleted with the transcript after 24 hours.
- A one-way hash of your IP address and browser user-agent. We do not store the address itself — only an irreversible fingerprint, used to stop one visitor from occupying the whole service. It is deleted with the job.
- Ordinary server logs (request time, path, status) kept for operational troubleshooting.
We do not ask for your name or email, because there is nothing to sign up for.
Your transcript link is the key
Each job gets an unguessable address of the form /j/…. Anyone holding that
link can read the transcript until it expires — that is what makes it shareable without
an account. Treat it like a password: if you share the link, you share the transcript.
Others who see data
- Cloudflare sits in front of this site and handles every request, so it processes your IP address as part of delivering and protecting the service.
- Google Analytics tells us how many people visit and where they came from. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google your IP address and pages viewed. If you would rather not be counted, any tracker blocker will stop it.
Beyond those, your audio and transcripts are not shared with anyone, and we do not sell data. We are not in the business of your recordings — we are in the business of turning them into text and forgetting them.
Cookies
The site itself sets no cookies: there is no login and no session to keep. The only cookies come from Google Analytics, as described above.
Your rights
Because we hold nothing that identifies you, and everything is deleted within 24 hours, there is usually nothing to request or erase. If you want a transcript gone sooner, it expires by itself, or write to us and we will remove it. Questions about data, including access or deletion requests, go to [email protected].
Children
This service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly process their data.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly.
